Traditionally, the process of scouting HPLC methods has been time consuming as well as labor intensive.Meanwhile, the recent popularity of Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) has allowed for fast and improved LC analyses.Using the Shimadzu Nexera UHPLC system, we have designed a system for accelerating and improving the method scouting process.Our system (Nexera Method Scouting System) is capable of automating scouting process.The automated selection from up to 16 different kind of mobile phase combinations is achieved using two pumps equipped with valves that can switch four solvents.The automated switching among six columns is achieved using the high-pressure resistant 7-port, 6-position flow-switching valve.Using these capabilities, the Nexera Method Scouting System allows for the automated selection of up to 96 unique combinations of eight mobile phases and six columns to allow for the comprehensive investigation of analytical conditions while shortening the total time required for the method scouting process.
