During the operation of the coal power plants the natural radioactive materials in the coal are enriched by the filters of the plant.The coal plants were satisfied more than 2/3 of the electricity demand in Hungary.Recently the capacity of the coal plants in Hungary were reduced and closed,because the operation was not economic,thus currently other coal plants shifted to operate with natural gas and biomass.In 2009,the NORM charging of the Hungarian coal power plants were measured with the Mobile laboratory of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences,Centre for Energy Research.
