  Macrophages (Mφ) are prominent components of solid tumors and exhibit distinct phenotypes in different microenvironments.Previously, we found that tumors could alter the normal developmental process of Mφ to trigger transient activation of monocytes in the peritumoral stroma of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
