X-ray free electron lasers (X-FELs) with high brilliance and a duration scale of femtosecond have opened up new areas in studies of molecular dynamics.The first experiments on molecular dynamics in the hitherto unavailable range of parameters have revealed that out understanding of the involved physics and chemistry is largely qualitative.
