Let a dissipative differential equation defined on an inner product space X be approximated by a general linear method,with r inputs.Burrage and Butcher (1980) showed that if the method is algebraically stable,then it is stable in Xr.In this talk,we show that such methods also satisfy a stability property in X itself,using the idea of the one-step method,(Kirchgraber 1986,Stoffer 1993,Feng 1995).
