An endoparasitoid wasp,Cotesia plutellae, parasitizes young larvae of the diamondback month,Plutella xylostella.Parasitized larvae exhibitsignificantly suppressed cellular and humoral immune responses during the parasitism.Developmental alteration is evident at late stage of the parasitism by extending the last instar larval period, and blocking thelarva-to-pupa metamorphosis.Compared to nonparasitized larvae, parasitized larvae kept a relatively high level of juvenile hormone esterase activity during early last instar.
