We apply a global three-dimensional Goddard Earth Observing System(GEOS)chemical transport model(GEOS-Chem)to quantify the impacts of the East Asian summer monsoon(EASM)on interannual variations of summertime surface-layer O3 concentrations over China, the interannual variations of aerosols over heavily polluted regions in China, and the decadal trend and interannual variation of aerosol outflow from East Asia.Simulations are performed driven by the NASA/GEOS-4/5 assimilated meteorological fields.
