It is known that steel materials in concrete do not readily corrode because,for the most part,they are mostly covered with a protective film that results from the alkalinity of concrete.This film keeps the steel in a passivated state that is extremely resistant to rust.Accordingly,special corrosion measures are not normally applied to the surface of the steel members used in the concrete of reinforced concrete buildings.
