  Phytoplasma, an obligate intracellular parasite, can stimulate the plant defense response.In this paper, SWP11, a secreted protein encoded by WBD_ 0236, was identified as an elicitor.This protein could induce the hypersensitive response and cause a point necrosis in Nicotiana? benthamiana.
