The Cretaceous Codon Formation in Catanduanes,Philippines is an olistostrome composed of exotic megablocks of Cretaceous limestones, volcanic rocks and minor chert in a volcaniclastic matrix (Pe(n)a,2008).The formation exhibits superb examples of gravity-driven deformation like slumping, thrusting, and rolling over a basal breccia carpet, formed during a catastrophic submarine mass transport.David et al.(1997) argued that left-lateral strike slip faulting during the end of Cretaceous led to the creation of a pull-apart basin where the Codon Formation formed.
