Large eddy simulation(LES)of turbulence only solves the large scale motion,and the small scale motion is modeled by sub-grid stress model.Most of the SGS model,such as Smagorinsky model and dynamic model,take the Boussinesq hypothesis that sub-grid stress is coaxial with velocity strain rate tensor,which may be invalid for many of turbulent flows.
