The role of thalamic structures in memory is potentially very complex, however, most studies on the memory impairment of patients with thalamic lesion have focused on retrospective memory.Recent theories have posited that the thalamus, as a whole, has been implicated in the executive aspects of episodic memory, but prospective memory has rarely been reported.To explore the effect of thalamic strokes on event-and time-based prospective memory,and certificate the hypothesis that thalamus is involved in the prospective memory.Eighteen patients with thalamic strokes and 18 age-and education-matched healthy controls, were assessed using event-and time-based prospective memory tasks.
