A novel ternary mixed-ligand complex [Cu2(L)2(bipy)(EtOH)2] (1) (H2L=β-phenylal-anine,N-[1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propylidene],bipy =4,4-bipyridine,EtOH=ethanol) has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c.The Schiff base ligand coordinates to the Cu(Ⅱ) ion in a tridentate mode including phenol-hydroxyl oxygen, carboxyl oxygen and amide nitrogen atom, while the bipyridine ligand coordinates in bidentate bridging mode linking two adjacent Cu(Ⅱ) ions. The binuclear unit are further linked by hydrogen bond to form a 2D wave-like supramolecular architecture.
