We present effective methods for numerical simulations of critical nucleation and microstructure growth based on the phase field models.Contributions of anisotropic elastic energy in solid state transformations are discussed and we illustrate how they might significantly affect the nuclei morphology.Some computational issues are addressed,together with rigorous analysis of the underlying numerical algorithms.
