  Cinnolines,the privileged structure in molecular skeletons,have a broad range of biological and pharmacological activities,therefore,it has attracted increasing attention to the development of its preparation.On the other hand,phosphoryl group has proved to be a good leaving group for our previous synthesis of indazoles and isoquinolines.In the context of our program aiming at efficient construction of heterocycles through tandem reaction strategy,we have developed a copper-catalyzed intramolecular aerobic dehydrogenative amination reaction,whereby a sequential cleavage of one N-P bond and formation of one C-N bond is described from easily prepared phosphorylhydrazones to give substituted cinnolines.
