PV is set to replace existing carbon-generating power sources, this means that PV must compete economically competitive with conventional power.Industry is developing technology very rapidly, improving production efficiency and cost of equipment and investors require in-depth analysis of the market and the technology to mitigate risks and secure returns.Project Finance is a financing technique whereby lenders and investors look at the cash flow of the projects to remunerate their investments having the project assets as collateral.Project finance allocates risks and rewards among specialised stakeholders and provides tailor-made financial solutions for specific projects that either could not, or would not want to be financed through sponsors balance sheet or equity.The standardization of PV project finance techniques paves the way to alternative financial products such as project bonds which have the capacity to attract other financial investors based on the assessment of the rating agencies.There are various forms of credit enhancement that can mitigate project level, institutional, currency, and or sovereign risks.
