Otolith organ is the vestibular end organ which is sensitive to the force of gravity for spatial orientation and visual cues act in forming the concept of direction in the environment. At altered gravitation environment, otolith organ recieved altered information then transformed it into the central nervous system,as a result, the brain would adjust body behaviour for adaptation to the changes.Evidences showed that this adjustment longed several days when fish was carried for spaceflight in spacescraft. But the mechanism of this adjustment is not clear, some researcher thought otolith organ may play important roles during adaptation. In order to solve this problem, otolith growth and biomineralization of zebrafish were investigated after treatment to simulated microgravity from embryo stage of 10hpf to middle larval stage of 12dpf.It was found that otolith morphological growth were quicker at the first 6 days, but decreased to keep the same size with the normogravity group. The Growth layers, granule size and orientation and organic leftover were different in the two groups.Expression of OMP-1 was decreased from 43hpf.These results suggest that the central nervous system adjust otolith growth by changing of biomineralization,so that it can keep normal size with slighter weight in simulated microgravity.
