Epidemiological investigation on the characteristic of 153 suicide attempters

　　Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristic of suicide attempters and to provide the scientific evidence for later prevention and crisis intervention.Methods A descriptive epidemiological method was adopted to analyze the data of 153 suicide attempters survived by Emergency Department of Gongli Hospital, Pudong New Area, Shanghai.Results Female suicide attempters were much more than male, and the racial was 4.6∶ 1.Most of the suicide attempt ers were adolescents who have only received junior high school education.The major social support system of the suicide attempters was family support.Most of the suicide attempters tried drug such as hypnotics, sedative and pesticides, and most of them havent resorted to psychological counseling.
