The purpose of this study was to evaluate the tensile bond strength of four facial prosthetic adhesives by the use of silicone specimens adhered to human skin.Four facial prosthetic adhesives,Daro B-200 Regular (RE),Secure2 Adhesive (SA),Non-modified Adhesive (NMA) and Facial Prosthesis-skin Adhesive (FPSA) were subjected to tensile bond strength on the volunteers forearm.Silicone specimens were pulled off by use of a desktop material tester with a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min.The tensile bond strength was then calculated, and the location of the rupture was observed.One-way ANOVA and LSD test were used to analyze the data.SA showed the highest tensile bond strength among the four adhesives, then followed by FPSA,and RE,NMA had the lowest.Observation of the failure mode showed that SA and FPSA mainly failed at skin/adhesive interface, whereas RE and NMA failed at adhesive layer or adhesive/silicone interface.
