Mycotoxin contamination is one of the risk factors for Kashin-Beck Disease (KBD), and nivalenol is a member of the trichothecene family of mycotoxins contributing to KBD progression.Our previous studies have illustrated that cartilage catabolism is present in KBD patients, including matrix degradation and chondrocyte death.
