Objective: To determine whether the single channel functional electric simulation (FES) could im prove the gait speed in adults with hemiplegia.Database search: Articles were identified through a search of PUBMED, CINAHL, and MEDLINE database from 1950 to October 2010.Inclusion criteria: To investigate the therapeutic effect when using peroneal nerve simulation on walking speed in stroke patients with a dropped foot.Outcome: Walking speed was selected as the primary outcome, and the secondary outcome was physiological cost index (PIC)Results: Five articles (two RCTs) were indentified. Conclusion: More evidences are needed to prove the efficacy of single channel FES on gait speed in poststroke patients.
