Extended defects(surfaces,interfaces,and dislocations)inmetal oxides are of crucial importance for technological applications,including heterogeneous catalysis and oxide-based electronic and optoelectronic devices.Compared to metals and semiconductors,there are more complexities in atomic and electronic structures in metal oxides,leading to difficulties for structural studies at the atomic scale.
