Although it has already been well documented that,in contrast to translation and transcription systems,DNA replication systems are not universally conserved among the three domains of life (Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukaryotes), it comes as a great surprise that even within bacteria the functional DNA polymerase Ⅲ alpha subunits (DnaE) have four different homologs, i.e.,DnaE1, DnaE2, DnaE3, and PolC.
