Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS)mediatu many cell processes in bacteria and ROS induction has been employed as a novel strategy to improve the production of secondary metabolite. In this work,H2O2 was used as an ROS generator to investigate its effect on VAL-A production.VAL-A production was enhanced by 38% on day 4 when 25 μM H2O2 was added to the medium at 8 h during fermentation.ROS inhibitor diphenylene iodonium(DPl)was used to study the effect of ROS on VAL-A production in Streptomyces hygroscopocus 5008 (5008) wild type and valP/Q mutant strains.
