Objective To assess scattered radiation during coronary angiography(CA)and radiation protection efficacy of a ceilingsuspended lead screen using real-time dosimetry.Methods In a catheterization lab,an anthropomorphic phantom was placed under the X-ray beam to simulate patient attenuation.Eight CA projections i.e.left anterior oblique(LAO)45°,right anterior oblique(RAO)30°,cranial 25°,caudal 25°,LAO 45°/cranial 25°,LAO 45°/caudal 25°,RAO 30°/cranial 25° and RAO 30°/caudal 25°were applied to measure scattered radiation to the primary operator(PO)and the assistant using real-time dosimeters.Thereafter,a ceiling-suspended lead screen was positioned closely to the phantom,at left lateral and closely to the PO to compare radiation protection efficacy.
