During sexual reproduction in most animals, ejaculated sperm must undergo a series of poorly understood physiological and biochemical changes in the female genital tract in order to acquire the ability to fertilize an oocyte.In nematode C.elegans, both males and hermaphrodites produce sperm and sperm are activated by sex-specific manner to become crawling and fertilization-competent spermatozoa.
