Effects of nanoparticles on the mode Ⅰ delamination behaviour of carbon fibre/ epoxy composite have been studied using double-cantilever-beams.Different kinds of nanoparticles are added to modify the epoxy matrix.The results obtained show that the presence of nanoparticles, either hard particles or soft particles, can improve the interlaminar fracture resistance of the composite laminates.Microstructure analysis on the fracture surface has confirmed the toughening effect caused by crack-wake fibre bridging.
