Objective To observe the protective effect of hydrogen-rich water on radiation injury in mice,so that could provide scientific basis for the application of hydrogen-rich water. Methods The ICR mice were randomly divided into control group, irradiation group [H2(-)] and hydrogen-rich water group [H2(+)].Animals were whole-body irradiated by 9.0 Gy 60Co-gamma rays.Blood samples of mice were collected from orbital sinus with ether anesthesia at 24 h after irradiation. These samples were centrifuged at 2500 rpm for 15min after coagulation and the serums were separated. The T-SOD,GSH-PX,MDA,GM-CSF,HSP-70 and 8-OHdG were analyzed. Results The results were compared to the H2(-) group. The T-SOD,GSH-PX of the H2(+) group were higher than the H2(-) group (P<0.05),but there was no significance in the MDA (P>0.05).The GM-CSF and HSP-70 of the H2(+) group were higher than the H2(-) group but with no significance (P>0.05).The 8-OHdG of the H2(+) group were lower than the H2(-) group (P<0.05).Conclusion Hydrogen-rich water has anti radiation effect through anti-oxidation,increasing HSP70,GM-CSF,decreasing 8-OHdG.
