Perpendicularity pollution of heavy metal in the sediments of poyang Lake

Objective:Poyang Lake is the biggest fresh lake in China,in order to find out transfer rules and vertical distribution characteristics of heavy metals in sediments of Poyang lake,pole shape samples were collected and analyzed.Methods:The sediment samples of the Lake areas were collected using adjacent water vertical spile method using low water of Poyang Lake in late October and early November in 2006 by the soil sampling implement of pole shape and push pattern.The heavy metals concentrations of Cu,Mn,Cr,Pb,As & Ni at different depths were determined by microwave digestion-ICP-AES analysis system.Results:In the Poyang Lake area,the main pollutant matters of heavy metal elements were Cu,Mn and Cr.At different depths,concentrations of heavy metal elements were various.Generally having arrived at a definite depth of sediment,the concentrations of heavy metal elements kept stable.The concentrations of heavy metal appeared larger fluctuation above 28 cm for Spot A and 72 cm for the 3 Spots of Poyang Lake.From upstream of Poyang Lake(Spot A) to downstream(Spot D),the contents of some heavy metal elements,such as Cu & Mn decreased apparently.The Cu average concentration reduced from 404.415 mg/kg(Spot A) to 30 mg/kg(Spot D).The Mn average concentration decreased from more than 1000 mg/kg(Spot B) to less than 600 mg/kg(Spot D).Conclusion:Sampling method about sediment would be important to the following analysis results.Sediment researches of column sample would provide more information about the heavy metal pollution.
