This article demonstrates how summer (JJAS) rainfall pattern in Thailand can be predicted utilizing the similarity of teleconnection indices, which helps in the extreme rainfall event prediction.The hierarchical clustering technique was applied to various teleconnection indices from December 1980 to May 2014.The analysis identified three indices, Oceanic Nino Index (ONI), Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), and Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), for the 6-month period (December of previous year,January, February, March, April, and May) of the year 2014 to have the closest similarity to those in the year 1997, when the last strongest E1 Nifio event occurred.
