Brassica rapa is a very important source of vegetables and edible oil in China.A large quantity of insecticides was used in production of these crops each year,causing food safety and environmental safety problems.Due to lack of insect resistant germplasm resources in Brassica,conventional breeding for pest tolerance has progressed very slowly.In this study,we developed a highly efficient platform for genetic transformation of Brasssica rapa,which is a species hard to transform so far,through screening recipient genotypes,seedling ages for explants,selective agents and hormone concentrations.From 7 genotypes,Hanyangqin was selected for its highest regeneration ability (7.5%) of hypocotyls explants.
