Evidence from epidemiologic investigations suggests a link between high exposure to particles through residential traffic and an increased incidence of cardiovascular diseases.The precise way of this impact is still unknown, however, and the suggested mechanisms often lack the convincing evidence, because they have been derived from experiments with high particle doses.
