Digital rock physics(DRP)is maturing into a new technique for the determination of the physical properties of reservoir rocks. The basic workflow of DRP consists of “image and compute” and implies that the physical rock sample is discretized into a digital(3D)representation.Image segmentation, namely the task to assign mineral phases as well as the porosity of the actual rock to grey scale values of a CT scan,is the most crucial step in the discretization of a reservoir sample. However, there is no standard procedure developed for this step and so we investigate the sensitivity of this step on the subsequently computed physical properties.
