In the paper KM tool-holder/spindle taper interface contact and positioning status under different clamping force is studied systematically with Finite-element Method.The specific parameter of radial displacement,contact stress and taper clearance of tool-holder/spindle is given.Analytical results show that the radial displacement is maximizing and contact stress is almost zero in the middle of the shank taper.And a proper clamping force is found to be essential to prevent the fast wear and early breakage of KM tooling system in practical machining.
