The progressive loss of cognitive function is a debilitating complication in individuals aging with HIV-1-infection.The CDC estimates the majority of HIV-1 infected individuals will be over 50 years old by 2015.Many of the mechanisms dysregulated during aging are also contributing to the development of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) in 20?-70% of infected individuals.
