We study current rectification effect in a symmetric molecule coumarin substituent sandwiched between two Aluminum electrodes using an ab initio nonequilibrium Greens function method and density function theory. The phenomenon of current rectification is observed such that a very small current appears at positive bias of 2.0V,while a rather large current appears at tht bias-2.0V.A significant rectification ratio more than 200 is achieved.Detailed analyses of the projected density of states and the transmission spectra of the system reveals the mechanism of the switch.
