A proof of concept study is presented demonstrating the potential of small molecule affinity ligands as a qualitative and economic alternative to Protein A for the purification of monoclonal antibodies.Based on Graffinitys highly diverse library of small organic molecules comprising 110,000 compounds specific ligands were identified by SPR Imaging.After immobilization to NHS-activated agarose beads the ligands were characterized regarding their suitability as affinity ligands.
