Van Riemsdijk1990, Rooryck1996, Ayano2000，Thomas2004, Gehrke2007, among others), tries to provide answers to the questions: 1) Are the postverbal Pzai在 and Pdao到, syntactically or semantically identical, for they both bring directional meaning (endpoint of the Path) to matrix verbs in the Chinese syntactic pattern VPP (V + locative PP)? 2) Why can the directional interpretation be found only in certain sorts of path verbs but not all?
