After more than a century of research,it has become clear that the crust-mantle transition,or the Mohorovi(c)i(c)discontinuity(Moho),can be complex or gradational in nature.Furthermore,the characteristics of the Moho are spatially variable,making the seemingly straightforward quest to obtain the overall crustal thickness difficult to achieve on large scales.
