Pu-erh tea has originally grown and produced in southern of Yunnan, China for more than one thousand years.Consumption of Pu-erh has been thought to possess numerous health benefits including weight-loss, blood lipid lowering effects, and preventing cardiovascular diseases.However, the mechanisms of weight-cutting effect of Pu-erh tea are poorly understood.Here, by using animal model C.elegans, we show that the phyrogenal pumping rate and the uptake of food in Celegans were correspondingly reduced with the increased concentrations of Pu-erh tea.Futhermore, Pu-erh tea down-regulates the expression of the master fat regulator, SREBP, and stearoyl-CoA desaturase that is a key enzyme in the biosythesis of fat in C elegans.Thus, our work demonstrate that Pu-erh tea inhibits food uptake and digestion, as well as down-regulates the biosynthesis of fat to reduce the fat storage.
