Several years ago we published two papers1,2 with titles that begin with the words, "Rediscovering Silicones," and another3 with a title that begins with "A Surprise from 1954." We point out in these papers reasons for the neglect of silicones in academe and tried to emphasize, by taking advantage of them, the special reactivity and properties of silicones that set them apart from polymers with carbon-based backbones.
