Lower temperature geothermal resources (95-149° Celsius) are viable fuel sources for Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power plants. These temperatures, lower than traditionally thought of as "commercially viable resource temperatures," can now be utilized for geothermal and waste heat applications.TAS Energy has completed several plants utilizing the brine from existing geothermal plants. This paper will discuss the actual performance of the bottoming plants commissioned in 2011 and 2012.In addition, TAS Energy has built modular solutions for new geothermal resources using the ORC cycle. This paper intends to highlight;1) the successful development of a new design axial turbine family for geothermal and waste heat applications, applied to 2) the successful utilization of a low temperature resource in a commercial utility power sale setting and finally 3) the successful demonstration of flash bottoming binary cycle technology. This innovative solution, now running in North America, is applicable to geothermal applications throughout Asia. This presentation will provide specific information on the benefits that can be gained by the addition of bottoming ORC cycles on new or existing flash steam resources in Asia.In addition, as lower temperature geothermal resources are developed in Asia, ORC technology will be the chosen solution.
