　　Advanced semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) with fast switching speeds, high extinction ratio, high gain and high situation out put power and superluminescent light diodes (SLDs) with high power and broad bandwidths have been reported.Their application in energy saving, bio-medical imaging, navigation,environmental protection, metrology and defect analysis have been also described.
