　　Head and neck cancers account for approximately 3 percent of all cancers in the United States.Treatment of this cancer often involves radiation therapy,and increasingly,chemotherapy.We will review some of the complications associated with this therapy and potential management techniques to improve the tolerance by the patient.We will also review the theory on the pathogenesis of ORN and some of the treatment modalities that are currently employed.
