Background: Diabetic arterial calcification has been indicated as a strong predictor of cardiovascular mortality.Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) differentiate into osteoblast-like cells plays a pivotal role during the vascular calcification.OPG (osteoprotegerin)/RANKL (receptor activator of NF-κB ligand)/RANK (receptor activator of NF-κB ligand) axis is r reported to be the linkage between bone mineralization and vasculature.This study aimed to investigate the effects of high glucose (HG) on the expression of OPG and RANKL in VSMCs.
