Since the use of silver halides in photography was invented more than 100 years ago, nanoparticles made of silver halides have regained tremendous attention in the past several years due to their potential applications in high-efficiency photocatalysis, biosensing, and disinfection of microbacteria. Performance of silver halide nanoparticles is usually dependent on their morphology, size, composition, and crystal structure. We recently developed a facial approach for the synthesis of silver chlorobromide nanoparticles with highly uniformity in terms of crystalline phase, morphology, and size through a co-precipitation reaction of silver ions with both chloride and bromide anions.
