Casein kinase 2 (CK2) is a ubiquitous Ser/Thr-specific enzyme essential for viability and for cell cycle progression. Here, we investigated the possible physiological functions of the CKA4 gene in casein kinase 2 family of Arabidopsis. The results showed that it was involved in regulating abscisic acid (ABA) response and thermotolerance response.Three homozygous T-DNA insertion mutants cka4-a, cka4-b and cka4-c were identified by RT-PCR assays. The expression level of CKA4 was significantly up-regulated by ABA and heat stress.
