Explosive welding technique was developed and industrialized worldwide to join dissimilar materials with tight bonding at the interface.The author uses a new method of explosive welding using underwater shock wave.The method is suitable for the welding of thin plate to a base plate and also suits well for the case when the welding condition is limited due to melting or excessive reaction.In the presentation, the basic concept to control the pressurizing condition is explained based on the numerical simulation using Autodyn code and some applications of thin plate welding is demonstrated.Furthermore, other possibility of using underwater shock wave is also introduced in the presentation.
