Velvet bean,an undemtilized south Indian tribal pulse,accessions were collected and the effect of germination in reducing/eliminating antinutrients like trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitors,phytohaemagglutinating activity,L-Dopa (3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine),phytic acid,total free phenolics and tannins have been investigated.Contents of antinutrients (x) in seven different accessions of velvet bean and period of germination (y) were correlated and it was showed significant positive correlation (i.e.R2more than 0.791) but it was less pronounced for L-Dopa content.
