Recent studies show that the North China Plain suffers from severe aerosol and ozone pollution.The occurrence of high ozone concentrations requires sufficient ultraviolet photochemical flux and concentration in precursor gases, Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), existing in specific proportions.The high aerosol loading inhibits the solar ultraviolet radiation from reaching the ground.
